Enamelled fish

160.00

This strange variety of fish is made with the technique called “cloisonne enamel”. Enamel is basically glass, so in this technique finely ground glass is carefully placed on a metal surface and fired in a kiln where it melts together to create a translucent glass layer.

The colours of enamel are hard to capture on camera, so I’ve also included a video to give you an idea of how they look in direct light vs. shade.

Please note: there is a tiny scratch on one of the scales. Since this is one of my first enamelled pieces, I have decided that it is safer to leave it as is, because it does not impact durability. Chances are you would never even notice it, but I prefer to disclose such details 🙂
